Bound To Be. 2013-2014.
The objects scattered around the space range between furniture and sculpture and they have a similar formal code of construction: a frame containing dense rectangular shapes constructed from layers of compressed material, layers that look from afar like a geological section, like the residue of a landscape that shows the passing of time; except that the layers are made from heaps of books, documents, book bindings, fabrics, and piles of paper from various sources that have been collected by the artist over a long period.
These are the raw materials with a loaded past, matters of history, rooted in another era. To these she adds other articles, such as old pieces of wood, obsolete pieces of furniture, and other artifacts that have been jettisoned by life and incarcerated inside statues that have the form of a library or an archive.
